Pod surrounding is a fun, graphically pleasing piece. The many textures and layers of color interact dynamically in each rectangle of the triptych design. The pod theme is embodied in the skull, seedpod and sea urchin encasements that are centered in each section. A pod in this case is seen as an encapsulated space, a shell for the organism that it accompanies in each section. Claudia also enjoyed playing with the contrasts between natural and man-made materials in this piece.
