Changes [Aug 28, 2008]
Published WorkDecember 6th was the premier gala opening for my show at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery. It went better than I thought even possible. It would not be a lie to say it was the most intense night of my life. The curator, Ruthie Tucker, does what she does out of love, which is helping artists in getting their work out there and bringing them glory. I was interviewed twice, once by Mr. Daniel Reton for Manhattan TV, and then again for The Kristal Hart Show. The people in attendance included a French Prince and Russian Baroness. I include these details only so you get the flavor of how the room felt.
There was a review near my paintings. The first two paragraphs read as follows:
Pablo Picaso once mused "A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art." Picasso would certainly consider the works of digital painter Peter Schwartz "art" in that they are full of passion, emotion, and sentiment. From Picasso to Mondrian to Pollack, many artists have developed their own characteristic interpretation of Abstract painting. Mr. Schwartz adds his own original style to the tradition of abstraction, as he takes an innovative approach and paints digitally. His works of art are incredibly modern, as computers and microprocessors allow for a different appearance of art. Mr. Schwartz paints abstract images inspired by the forms from the world around us and by the thoughts, theories, emotions and daydreams from within himself. Like windows of color and light, Mr. Schwartz's works are composed of radiant geometric shapes that melt into harmonious patterns of light and form.
Mr. Schwartz has created a series which renders images that are elegantly powerful. A buoyancy of grace envelops the style and technique of the artist, as he juxtaposes the bright with the bold and the explicit with the imprecise. Exuding indefinite amounts of dynamism, these paintings propel the viewer into arcane realms of intellectual and visual bliss. Manipulating the spontaneous plethora of contracts in his work into controlled abstractions, Mr. Schwartz is able to convey individualized dispositions within each of his works. The intrinsic meanings of the images have the ability to alter and adapt to the unique psyche of the viewer; thus creating a very personal and intimate liaison. Supremely crafted and highly innovative, these works clearly evoke the dexterity and artistic flair of Mr. Schwartz.
Not bad, eh?
Finally, my friends and fans will be pleased to know that I've been invited back for a second show. I'm giving myself time to make an even more impressive collection but will of course make an announcement when a new date is set. Thanks.
